February Members of the Month

We’re happy to welcome the entire Klose family to the HRA Member of the Month hall of fame!

What goes into selecting a HRA MOM? Glad you asked. Here is what we consider the cornerstone of being the best version of yourself with the HRA fam:

What is your favorite thing about Hudson River Athletics?
The membership is what makes HRA so special. Everyone has been so supportive since day 1 and it's the difference between wanting to show up every day and not.

What differences have you seen in your body, and health since starting at The Riv?
I'm one of the few people I know (outside of HRA) that actually LOST weight during the pandemic thanks to Jay/Bobby's at-home programming. Now that I'm back under the barbell I've been able to add some muscle back on and I feel as strong/healthy as I've felt in quite some time. Feels like a huge win given how stressful/generally challenging last year was. Health is extremely important to me and between Crossfit, RPM, and now Nutrition, there really is no room left for excuses.

Does training at Hudson River Athletics carry over in any way to your personal life?
Absolutely. In particular I've come to appreciate the gym's focus on philanthropy and practicing gratitude. I'm very thankful for the opportunity to participate in nearly every Friday-hero-wod, and it's workouts like these that clear my mind after a stressful week.

What has been your favorite moment at The Riv and what has it meant to you?
I'm not sure I recognized how special the outdoor workouts over the summer were but looking back they were awesome. Though I wanted to be lifting in the actual gym, the outdoor workouts started at a time where everyone really needed an excuse to get outside and see other people. The whole community was just so happy to be there and I won't forget that feeling.

What is your favorite thing about Hudson River Athletics?
My favorite thing is the total atmosphere of the gym which is 100% because of the people. The coaches and members just know how to set the perfect tone for the workout each and everyday. Sometimes it’s fun and chill while other times it’s impassioned and intense which makes the training experience the best around. We felt so welcomed (little Quinn included!) when we joined a year ago and I love how supportive and encouraging everyone has been. Even when the gym was closed for months, I felt that the sense of community and camaraderie actually thrived and made it that much more fun to be back with everyone when it did reopen. Don’t think the same could be said for most other gyms!

What differences have you seen in your body, and health since starting at The Riv?
Since starting at The Riv, I’ve gotten A LOT fatter! But I’m beginning to suspect I should shift my blame for that away from Bobby’s programming and more towards the actions of my co-M.O.M.!

Does training at Hudson River Athletics carry over in any way to your personal life?
As any other Riv Momma could probably tell you, it’s a lot easier to chase after toddlers/kids all day when you’re fit and strong AF!

What has been your favorite moment at The Riv and what has it meant to you?
My favorite moment at The Riv has been my fitness journey specifically over the past 7-8 months. We found out I was pregnant not long before the gym reopened for outdoor classes this summer so I was excited to keep up my workouts while being pregnant. Since then, I can’t thank the coaching staff enough for being super supportive and giving me the opportunity to maintain a level of fitness I’m used to by helping me with scaling options/substitutions and not treating me like I’m fragile or frail. I am super proud of what my body has been comfortable with and capable of doing in the gym while growing a tiny human simultaneously. I think it’s important not just for myself, but for others to see just how strong and awesome women and even more specifically mothers can be!
