Shoulder Workshop with Dr. Kevin Lapham and Dr. Jonathan Zaid

Hudson River Athletics has your back... we mean shoulders!

This Saturday, March 14th, 12:30pm - 2pm, Dr. Kevin Lapham and Dr. Jonathan Zaid will be hosting a workshop that they have developed based on the feedback they receive from the patients/athletes they have treated at Excel Physical Therapy in Hoboken. Amongst each one, there was a common thread they observed. They noticed that each patient treated at Excel Physical Therapy went there because of pain they were exhibiting. Seems obvious, right? Wrong.  

What’s not so obvious is “WHY” they really booked the appointment. They went there to get back to what they love doing without pain not be told to never workout again. This is what sets both doctors apart from the crowd. They go above and beyond any other PT in the area to get you out of pain, healthy, and back to your normal routine. This is why Hudson River Athletics has chosen to exclusively partner with Excel Physical Therapy in Hoboken. 

The two most common issues Dr. Lapham and Dr. Zaid see in their office are lower back and shoulder issues. For their first workshop, taking place this Saturday from 12:30pm-2pm, they will focus on shoulder health and function. The plan is to host more of these workshops in the future, but this Saturday is step one.

• This Saturday from 12:30pm - 2pm. 

• It’s free to members and friends

• They will discuss topics including:

• The "WHY" of shoulder health and its’ importance in CF and functional fitness 

• Basic anatomy

• How mechanisms function and interact with one another 

• Break out groups to help teach preventive and recovery methods for the joints and surrounding tissues 

• General and specific evidence to support why kipping, snatching, pulling etc… can create dysfunction and degeneration in the joint and how to protect yourself from going down the wrong path 

• How they work in conjunction with Coach Rich and what does a patient's life cycle look like if they visit either of them at Excel Physical Therapy in Hoboken

BAREFOOT REHAB SEMINAR with Dr. Nina

Dr. Nina will be at the gym to discuss who Barefoot Rehab is, what it is that she specifically does and how it can help you get out of pain. She is a Chiropractor upper limb specialist, who now only specializes in soft tissue work, specifically adhesion removal. 

Barefoot Rehab is the only licensed office in New Jersey for this technique!

From Coach Jay: “I have been personally working with them since September. After months of 2x/week visits out to Denville, NJ, I can now do Bar Muscle ups, Snatches, Jerks again with no pain and no residual shoulder capsule inflammation or pain the following days.”

Dr. Nina will be working with sign ups 2x/week for about 2-3 months depending on the person’s assessment and the best part is that this will be happening at the gym. That’s right. She is coming from Denville to us. It’s a great chance for you to find permanent relief.

ClinicalAthlete Weightlifting Certification

This two-day, intensive course will leave you with new tools to optimize movement, positioning, and performance for the Snatch and Clean & Jerk; as well as safely manage common weightlifting injuries.

This course is appropriate for any coach, trainer, clinician, or student looking to improve weightlifting performance and reduce risk of injury; and the ClinicalAthlete name ensures the material will be based on the best available scientific evidence. Upon course completion, you will earn the distinction of Certified ClinicalAthlete Weightlifting Coach (CCWC).

What does this mean? It means that athletes will recognize you as having the ability to safely and effectively coach the weightlifting movements for optimal positioning and performance, as well as knowing how to modify training appropriately, if injury is present. This course will help you bridge the gap between weightlifting performance and weightlifter health.

Those who successfully complete the course and pass the post-course assessment will have the opportunity to be listed on the ClinicalAthlete Directory as a Certified ClinicalAthlete Weightlifting Coach, as well as be a part of the ClinicalAthlete Forum!
